Half-circle Sleeves

A page from a vintage 1930s sewing magazine provides a fast, easy fix for a sleeveless dress. Simply cut a 20" circle out of material that coordinates with your dress, then cut the circle in half along the grain. Hem on all sides. Fold in half to find the center of the straight side, align it with the shoulder seam of the dress, drape the sleeve over the shoulder, and stitch into place in a straight line about 3-4" down in front and 3-4" in back. (You can also add the two little ruffles to the skirt if you wish - or not, as you choose.)
