ModestProm.com: Modest Formal Dresses & More

It all started with a trip to the mall, looking for a Prom gown.

"I was shopping for a Prom gown with a young lady from my local church group. We thought it would be so fun," recalls ModestProm.com creator Chris Hash.

"But instead, it was frustrating. There was nothing my friend could feel comfortable in. Everything was too low-cut in front or back, had a slit that was too high, was too tight, or just plain didn’t fit. And everything was so expensive!"

"After this, I started thinking about ways I could help young ladies find or create modest formal outfits. The result is ModestProm.com."

ModestProm.com can help young women put together great modest formal outfits, no matter what their needs.

If you want to buy a dress, ModestProm.com's Online Shoppe lists sources for modest prom gowns. "Sometimes it’s hard modest dresses at your local stores. But there are places where you can buy them. If you can’t find a place locally, try an online source," says Chris.

Those who sew and are willing to put in some time and effort can use the ModestProm.com Custom Gown tools (software and instruction) to create a gorgeous, custom-fit gown. Even the simplest dress looks absolutely elegant when it really fits. It’s is affordable couture, it’s not any harder than using a regular pattern, and it takes all the frustration out of sewing.

For absolute sewing novices, ModestProm.com also offers free Low-Sew Gown instructions. All you do is purchase a fancy top, gather some material to make a skirt, and sew the skirt to the top. Create a matching wrap, and you’ve got a great outfit in a couple of hours, for a very reasonable cost.

There’s also a free Basic Gown pattern and instructions. This simple dress has no darts or zipper, and can be sewn in an hour or two out of about 2 ½ yards of a stretchy material. It makes a beautiful, inexpensive dress that usually costs less than $30.

If you already have a spaghetti strap or strapless dress, check out the free instructions for creating shrugs. Anyone can make a shrug, even if they’ve never sewn before. All it takes is 1/4 yard of material and about half an hour. Shrugs cover the shoulders and upper back, so they’re great for "filling in," or even as a light jacket when the weather’s cold.

"I really wanted to create a resource that had something for everyone: those on the strictest of budgets, those who don’t mind spending a bit more; those who have more time, those who are in a hurry; those who sew, those who don’t. And especially, I wanted to create a resource for young ladies who just want to be modest, look beautiful, and have a great time at formal events. With ModestProm.com, everyone can," Chris concludes.
