"Glamming Up" a Thrift Store Dress

Sometimes you find a dress at a great price that's OK - but needs a little extra something. The following pale green dress had some things going for it: it was modest; it had a pretty overskirt  split in the front, and best of all, it only cost $8. But the ribbon trim and rosettes were a little outdated, and overall the dress just needed more personality.

Giving the dress more personality was quick and easy to do. The first step was to remove the white ribbon trim.

The next step was to add a different trim. The possibilities are endless; the following three examples may give you some ideas. (All of the trims shown in the examples were purchased at my local JoAnn's sewing store. Each trim cost $5, making the cost of the "glammed up" dress only $13!)
